How to Track Someone By Phone

So today I’m going to be showing you how to track someone’s phone, which means not only being able to see some of the activity done on these devices, but also finding the exact locations as well. There are many reasons a person may want to accomplish this including parents or legal guardians, employers, paranoid partners whom would like to see what their other half is up to when they are away at “work”, and those who would simply like to be able to track their own devices at all times.

Disclaimer: Keep in mind guys and gals, that these methods I am about to show you are completely legal and for educational purposes. That means that these methods should be used for legal activities only.

Method 1: GPS Tracker

There are essentially three common and very successful ways in tracking someone’s phone. One way is to install a physical tracker or app on that device which will automatically send you the GPS coordinates of the targets location. Given that physical trackers actually cost money and can be hard to find, most resort to paid or free apps that provide this service. Some of these even tell you the location while their phone is off. Of course, this method can be hard to pull off depending on the circumstances and is without a doubt illegal without the phone owner’s permission, given that they are not your children. While there are many choices out in the digital wonderland to be guided towards, finding a legitimate and free tool can be quite a hassle which is why if it sound like the easy solution you are looking for, I’d recommend trying two apps… Find My Device for Android devices (Obviously) and GPS Location Tracker for iOS devices.

FMD Install

Step 1

Go to the Google Play Store and download/install Find My Device

Step 2

Sign up for an account using Gmail, etc. You will most likely have one already as it is needed to download apps on the Play Store.

Step 3

You are all set to go! Now browse around at some of the features. 

Cool features that FMD offer are to wipe or lock the device in the event it is lost or stolen and ring your phone in the event it is buried under the couch somewhere. Of course there is also the ability to view the devices exact location and all of this can be done from another Android device if necessary.

GLT Install

Step 1

Go to the App Store and download/install GPS Location Tracker. While there is a standard and deluxe version, I will note that the standard (free) app has an arsenal of useful features such as GPS tracking, screen lock, and schedule tracking.

Step 2

Once opened, tap the start button and set up an account with followmee.com, the developers official website.

Step 3

Return to the login screen and enter your credentials, then select a tracking mode. Make sure to allow the app access to your location.

Step 4

You are ready to start tracking the device. From now on you can login to followmee.com and get to spying… I mean monitoring.

The app is actually available on iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows phones so you can track all of your devices from one account. If you feel as if these features are not  enough and are looking for more, you will have to resort to a paid app, which can be costly. While it does involve emptying some piggy banks, these services can offer impeccable tracking capabilities. The three currently best premium tracking apps are mSpy ($7-$60/month), FlexiSPY ($12-$68/month), and HighsterMobile ($69.99). All three offer a wide range of similar features including hiding themselves from target’s devices, tracking call history, text messages, contacts, photos, videos, emails, web history, social logins, hidden camera options, and support for Android or iOS devices without rooting or jailbreak. FlexiSPY has even taken their toolset to a higher degree by offering call recording, phone surroundings recording, and even sending fake text messages making it the king of the spying arsenal. Although I’d like to note that currently, FlexiSPY does not offer a jailbreak free option for iOS devices and does not support any iOS version above 10.2. The same goes for mSpy’s jailbreak package.

Method 2: Tracing

Now, this second method is going to be most effective when you are not a part of a persons family or close circle, do not have access to their device, and may not even know them personally. This involves tracing a phones’s mobile number.

Step 1

First, you will want to select the number you would like to investigate, such as from your contact book, a social networking page like Facebook, a professional page such as Indeed or LinkedIn, and good ‘ole Google. There are also many free people directories that can assist you with this such as Pipl, White Pages, TruePeopleSearch, and ThatsThem. Simply type in the persons information such as first or last name, age, city, or state and watch as the results pile up.

Step 2

Now you will want to use a free reverse phone lookup service to find the most updated contact info and possibly even carrier or address information. My two favorite sites for this are ZLookup and SpyDialer.

Step 3

From here, you may just have everything you need but just to double check the info you will want to make sure to compare all of the information you have gathered thus far to check for possible errors.

Step 4

After completing these steps, you will now have the phone number’s owner, possible relatives, current or past addresses, and even employment or background information, all for free!

While this does not track exact locations of their devices I’m sure with just a a little creativity anyone could see the possibilities. Also, while I can’t promise that this method will provide you with 100% correct information, from my experience, it is incredibly helpful nonetheless and will undoubtedly make your tracking easier.

Method 3: Old School

The third and last method isn’t going to be so much focused on tracking someone else’s phone as it is tracking yours. If by some way you are able to access the target’s daily items or vehicle, it is always possible to simply use either your phone or more preferably a secondary device that has GPS tracking enabled. All you have to do now is get that phone in to that car, suitcase, backpack, purse, etc. and you will be able to use either Google’s, Apple’s, or Microsoft’s built-in tracking software to see where they are at all times, or at least while driving. Although I have to admit, this one is pretty creepy, even for my standards and not really recommended.
